Validation Messages Displayed from Item Forms

On workflows it is possible to set up email messages, so that a user get's emailed if certain criteria haven't been met. It would be great if instead of receiving an email, it put the message on the screen, when you tried to save the record. This would be similar to when it tells us an attribute is a required field, but for custom reasons.

Hi James, thanks for raising this idea. Unfortunately, the way that Workflows execute asynchronously, after the trigger operation has been completed, means there wouldn't be a way to use them to intercept a save operation and display a message. There is however, some work we have done through Item Forms that will allow you to define whether a field is mandatory depending on logic. We aren't able to display a separate message on the screen through Item Forms yet though. Would you be ok with me altering your idea to be to allow validation messages to be displayed through Item Forms?
